TOP 5 WAYS TO CREATE A ROMANTIC GETAWAY

Is romance in the air in your holiday rental? Do you have a great one-bed apartment or house and you often get couples staying for a long weekend? Do you actually ‘market’ your place as a ‘couples destination’? A ‘romantic getaway’?

It’s certainly a good idea to make the most of what you have, and aim for that niche which is perfect for you and your property.

So, if you do fancy giving couples the PERFECT place for them, here’s a few ideas which will make your place stand out as the one they should definitely book!

And when they actually stay, they’ll be raving about it to all their other ‘couple’ friends!

My TOP 5 WAYS TO ATTRACT COUPLES:

1. Go moody with your paint colours

Think dark, luxurious tones in burgundy, and dark purples. Mix it up with deep dark greens and dirty mustards too.

Red is the colour of love, right, but I’d say to stay away from a harsh red when it comes to painting your walls. Instead look towards the deep reds/purples, often described as ‘red wine’ or ‘aubergine’ and ‘burgundy. They still give the same feeling but are not so ‘in your face’!

2. Breakfast in bed - with a view!

Think about the layout of your bedrooms. Is there an incredible view people can see from the bed?

It goes without saying that the bedroom is important! But have you considered the view? Think about the positioning of the bed. Make the most of what makes your place perfect - and if you have a view to dye for, shout about it!

If the best view is from a different room, you could also create a cosy nook with a window seat instead?

3. Layer up the textures

To give a sumptuous loving feel, consider the texture of the throws, cushions, and comfort! Mix up the textures - a beautiful linen against a soft velvet; a shiny satin against a knitted wool. Lovely hey?!

Neutral cushions with texture, boho style interior design

You can’t evoke romance in a sterile environment - a bare room with a stark feeling is not going to cut it as a romantic getaway. So how do you change this?

Adding texture means you add depth to a space, and this feels so much better than the bland, monotonous, almost 2D feeling you get when there is a lack of texture.

If you have a fairly neutral colour palette, texture and layering are two vital parts of your interior design, and which are often forgotten.

4. Quirky artwork!

Slip a bit of cheekiness in with some subtle artwork - there are loads on the market. Don’t go sleezy, don’t go full on sexy, just a cheeky nod to couples is enough!

Here’s a few I found!

5. Have extra special crockery and glassware

It may cost a bit more but, the beauty is, you only need two of everything! So splash out on something a bit more ‘special’ to supplement the ordinary. Matching mugs, plates, wine glasses etc makes the experience even more personal.

Remember to take photos of these for your listing, it will lure people in with that added interest, showing that you’ve made a special effort for that special couple who chooses to stay with you!

Don’t forget, you can always alter your marketing around Valentine’s Day or other times when a ‘couple’s getaway’ might be more in demand! Having these elements as part of your general offering, with photos to match as well, will make those times easier to market, and therefore easier to sell.

I’d also suggest encouraging your guests to post photos of your place, saying how perfect it was for their ‘anniversary’, ‘honeymoon’, or ‘date weekend’!

I can’t believe I’ve got through this post without mentioning champagne! Of course, that would help too (or may be Prosecco, depending on budget!).
